FAMILY REUNION in 1930's of JOSEPH WARREN ADAMS (#3) and LOUISIANA AMERICA ALMAND (#4) of CLAIBORNE PARISH, LA.
Photos named by MARSHALL VERNON HOUGH (#14) & JOAN HOUGH HARRINGTON TOMLINSON.

Joseph Warren Adams (1853-1945) and his wife, Louisiana America Almand (1856- 1936) were the Patriarch and Matriarch of this depicted "clan" of Louisianans. Henry Clay Hough (#26) in the photo was, actually Henry Clay Hough II--named after his Confederate Grandfather who fought in the Battle of Vicksburg. Through Louisiana America ALMAND, most of the persons depicted here are descendants of Captain John Blakeney, Sr. and John Blakeney, Jr.--Father and son Revolutionary War soldiers who fought in South Carolina. The Hough-Adams to Blakeney lineage has been proven via legal documentation. Louisiana Almand also, descended, according to family history, from Captain Pat Boggan, Revolutionary soldier and Titus Laney, patriot.

The children of Joseph and Louisiana are Archey D. Adams, Worth A. Adams, Evio (Eva) Mae Adams, Lela Ava Adams, Barbara Adams, Stumpsey E. Adams, Jodie Lou Adams and Pinky Adams, Some of these "children" are in the photo with their own children and grandchildren.

The parents of Joseph Warren Adams are Amanda BECK and J. ? Adams. Joseph, born in LA, was reared in Claiborne Parish by Manasseh Adams, probably his stepmother. Louisiana America''s parents were Simeon ALMAND, born in Georga and Rachel LANEY Blackman Almand Kemp, born in South Carolina. Louisiana America, born in Claiborne Parish was the young widow of Ephriam Strickland when she married Joseph Adams. '

The Adams daughter, Lela Ava (deceased at the time of the photo) was the mother of two of the Houghs pictured here---Walter Atone Hough and Henry Clay Hough. The Adams daughter, Jodie Lou was, also, the mother of two of the Houghs pictured here--Sybil Louise Hough and Marshall Vernon Hough.

Many of the folks shown here are still in Claiborne Parish--in the Gilgal Cemetery.
