Lucien William Kennedy arrived in Lake Charles in 1888 from Kansas as the
chief engineer in the construction of the Kansas City, Watkins & Gulf Railway
between Lake Charles and Alexandria. He died in 1892, the year that the
railway was dedicated. He was born in 1846 and died in 1892. He married Inez Isidore Higgins in 1872. She was a teacher in Lake Charles and died in 1925. His son, Lucien William, Jr. was the conductor on the railroad for 56 years and lived in Lake Charles, LA all his life. His children were Charles Louis (C.L.) Kennedy, Sr., Inez Kennedy Couvillion, and Lucien William Kennedy. Charles (C.L.)'s son was Charles Louis Kennedy, Jr. 1938-2003, who was an architect in Lake Charles. |
