Goebel Henry Stevens

Goebel Henry Stevens, 62, a repairman, died Friday night at the Woodford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. A native of Woodford County, he was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Versailles Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 67.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Hackney Stevens; a sister, Mrs. Omer Woolums, Versailles, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Blackburn Funeral Home by the Rev. Sam Hatton and the Rev. John Kruschwitz. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Bearers will be James Fisher, William O. Rice, Victor Hellard, William Mucci, Raymond Ward and Reginald Ryley.

Mrs. Mary Hackney Stevens

Services for Mrs. Mary Hackney Stevens, 62, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Blackburn Funeral Home by the Rev. John W. Kruschiwtz. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery. Bearers will be Jimmy Fisher, W. O. Rice, Dr. Jerry Adkins, Madison Duncan, Victory Hellard and the Rev. Sam Hatton.

Mrs. Sue H. Searcy

Lawrenceburg, Ky--Mrs. Sue H. Searcy, 73, widow of John Searcy, died at her home in Tyrone Thursday. She was a member of the Tyrone Methodist Church.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Virgil Rowland and Mrs. Nancy Jane Redmon, Anderson County, Mrs. Jack Lloyd and Mrs. Carl Robinson, Woodford County; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Alcorn, Anderson County; three sisters, Mrs. Tol Baxter and Mrs. Sanford Flora, Anderson County, and Mrs. Corda Abner, Winchester.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 this afternoon at the Tyrone Christian Church conducted by Rev. Arthur Bentley and Rev. Ray Jones with burial in the Lawrenceburg cemetery.


Riding Mishap Injuries Fatal To Young Booth

Terry Vance Booth, 13, Georgetown Pike, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Hospital where he had been hospitalized with a head injury since a riding accident Sept. 8. The child was injured while riding a pony near his home and was found unconscious in a field after the animal returned home without him.

A native of Franklin County, he attended Leestown School and was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. He was a son of Carl S. and Dorothy Hockensmith Booth. In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister, Renee Carol Booth, Lexington, and three grandparents, George W. Booth, Lexington, and Mrs. and Mrs. O. B. Hockensmith, Georgetown.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Whitehall Funeral Chapel by the Rev. J. P. Denny. Burial will be in the Stamping Ground Cemetery, Stamping Ground.

Mrs. Georgia McKinney Sutherland, 59, wife of Lemuel Sutherland, Versailles, Route 3, died today of injuries suffered when struck by a truck.

Mrs. Arthur Ballinger

Mrs. Betty Jo McKigney Ballinger, wife of Arthur Ballinger, died this morning in the Kings Daughters Hospital. A native of Frankfort, where she was born November 23, 1827, she was a member of the First Baptist Chapel and lived at 321 St. Clair Street.

She is also survived by two sons, Harry Franklin and Arthur Edward Ballinger, Jr., a daughter, Linda Susan Ballinger; her mother, Mrs. Lewis Peyton, Frankfort; two brothers, Jack T. and James P. McKigney, Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted in Rogers Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Herman Marx of the First Baptist Chapel. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery.

James R. McKinney

James R. McKinney, 70, of Glen's Creek Road, died at 4:30 a.m. today at Woodford Memorial Hospital, Versailles, following a long illness. He was a native of Mercer County and a retired employee of Stagg Distillery here. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 4, Frankfort.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Washburn McKinney, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Inman and Mrs. Brenda Joyce Patrick, both of Frankfort; four sons, Alex McKinney, Frankfort, Sylvester McKinney, Frankfort, and Marion McKinney and James McKinney, both of Lexington; a sister, Mrs. Ida Coleman, Frankfort; three brothers, Dickson McKinney, Versailles, Alex McKinney and Jess McKinney, both of Woodford County; 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Chapel. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery where grave side rites will be conducted by Hiram Masonic Lodge.


Mrs. Harvey Miller

Mrs. Mollie Myrtle Miller, 66, wife of Harvey Miller, was pronounced dead on arrival at King's Daughters Hospital at noon Thursday. She was a native of Lee County and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Anna Murphy, Mrs. Juanita Monroe and Mrs. Mae Perry; two adopted daughters, Bonnie Lou and Connie Sue Miller; three sons, Edmond, Sanford and Phillip Miller, and her mother, Mrs. Stella Dunaway, all of Franklin County; two sisters, Mrs. Christine Cody, Frankfort, and Mrs. Lorina Wise, of Indiana, and eighteen grandchildren.

The body is at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.


Mrs. Lillie T. Duncan

Mrs. Lillie Tapp Duncan, 80, died at Nicholas County Hospital at 8:10 p.m. Thursday after a long illness. She was a member of the Carlisle Christian Church.

Survivors are two sons, Willie and Elmer Duncan, Nicholas County, one stepson, H. H. Duncan, Fort Ritchie, Fla.; on brother, Oscar Tapp, Nicholas County, and three grandchildren.

Services will be conducted a 2 p.m. Sunday at Mathers-Shearer Chapel by the Rev. Norman Kiser. Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery.

Mrs. Louis J. Weber

Mrs. Sue Dews Weber, 36, of 109 Alexander Street, died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday at the University of Kentucky Hospital, Lexington, after a short illness. A native of Owen County, she was a member of Peaks Mill Christian Church and was employed by Union Underwear Co. Here.

Survivors include her husband, Louis J. Weber; two sons, Jesse and Lonnie Duvall, Frankfort; a daughter, Mrs. Flo Long, Franklin County; her mother, Mrs. Florence Guill, Frankfort; six brothers, Leonard, Billy and Dallas Dews, Frankfort; Robert Dews. Woodford County, Everett Dews, Owen County, and Walter Dews, Scott County, and a sister, Mrs. Robert Weber, Franklin County.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Chapel by the Rev. James L. Benson. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Woodford County.


Mrs. Elizabeth Downes

Elizabeth LeCompte Downes died in her home, 305 Willowbrook, Middletown, yesterday. She was born in Frankfort and had worked at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Shelbyville for the past 14 years. She was a member of the Fisherville Baptist Church. She had lived until recently at Fisherville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

She is survived by her husband, William Edward Downes, Middletown; daughter, Betsy Lee Downes, Middletonw; son, William Edward Downes Jr., Middletown; her mother, Mrs. Lena LeCompte, Frankfort; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Hancock, Frankfort, and Mrs. Margaret James Haines, Stanton, Virginia.


Mrs. Snoda Phillips

Mrs. Snoda Smith Phillips, 62, of 223 Rosewood Drive, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at King's Daughters Hospital here after a long illness. A native of Franklin County, she was a member of the Baptist Church and the widow of Jesse Phillips.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Herbert Ritchie, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Beatrice Hulette, Frankfort; two sons, Sterling and George L. Phillips, Chicago; a brother Elmer Smith, Frankfort, and nine grandchildren.


Willie Lunsford

Willie Lunsford, 83, of the Nonesuch area, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Woodford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Estill County and a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Flossie Shanklin Lunsford; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Ferguson, Lexington, and Mrs. Mona Davis, Steaman, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Ben Lenhart at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Nonesuch Cemetery.


Melvin F. Shields

Services for Melvin Franklin Shields, 49, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Duell-Clark Funeral Home by the Rev. Byron F. Jessup and the Rev. Nelson Moore. Burial will be in the Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County. Bearers will be Robert. J.B. and Raymond Shields Jr., Estill Wiley Jr., Don Jividen and Benard Centers.

Crash Kills Veterinarian G. P. Newton

Guy Polsgrove Newton, 67, assistant veterinarian for the State Racing Commission, was injured fatally when his automobile ran off Interstate 64 at 4:15 Monday about four and one-half miles east of here. He was alone in the car at the time of the accident.

A native of Franklin County, he was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Julia Gregory Newton; a son, W. Creighton Newton, St. Matthews; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Webb, Franklin County, and Mrs. Quarells Hughes, Frankfort; two sisters, Mrs. Ewell Gibson, Stamping Ground, and Mrs. Tom Jones, Georgetown, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The body is at Rogers Funeral Home, Frankfort. Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Chapel by the Rev. Drew Harrington. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Stout

Mrs. Sarah Belle Jackson Stout, 81, widow of Frank W. Stout, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at her home in Lexington after a short illness. She was a native of Owen County and a member of the Clays Mill Road Assembly of God Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. D. A. Mahoney, Lexington, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Maples

Mrs. Maude Ellen Maples, 26, wife of Frank Maples, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday at the University of Kentucky Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Scott County, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Courtney of Fayette County, and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to her parents and husband, include three daughters, Linda Mary and Debbie; three sons, Frank Jr., Donald and David, all at home; five sisters, Mrs. Elmer Stevens, Versailles, Mrs. James Dunn, Lexington; Mrs. Charles Hafley, Franklin County; Mrs. Danny Dotson, Woodford County, and Miss Katherine Courtney, Fayette County; seven brothers, Herman Jr., Everette, and Billy, all of Woodford County; Bobby, Scott County; Danny, Jimmy and Charles Albert all of Fayette County.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Miller-Blackburn Funeral Home in Versailles by the Rev. Earl Goins. Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery.
