Lewis Samuel Adams

Lewis Samuel (Possum) Adams, 38, died at the King Daughters Hospital Sunday morning at 6:30 following an illness of the past year. He was born in this county the son of Laura O'Nan Adams and Vernon Adams on June 19, 1917 and had lived here all of his life. He was educated in the Franklin County schools. He had served as magistrate from the Bald Knob district from 1948 to 1952 and was a candidate for sheriff in 1953. He had farmed all of his life and was a member of the Harvieland Methodist church serving as trustee of that church for the past 10 years.

Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Clara Belle Adams; two sons, Alvin Adams and Kelly Adams all of Franklin county; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Adams, both of Franklin county, two sisters, Mrs. Joel Watson, Franklin county, and Mrs. Paul Tomlinson of Forth Knox; two brothers, Leon Adams, Franklin county, William K. Adams, Smoky Hill Air Force Base, Salina, Kan.; grandfather Ed Adams, Franklin county, and several nieces and nephews.

The body is at the Harrod Bros. Funeral Home where services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. Asa Barber of the Antioch Church of Christ. The Rev. Homer Burke, Leestown Gospel Church, and Rev. Julian Simpson of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church will assist. Burial will be in the Harvieland cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ike and Mason Harrod, Albert Cox, Allen Tracey, Charlie B. Farthing and Neville Watson. Honorary bearers will be members of the Franklin County Fiscal Court.

Mrs. Leo Hutcherson

Mrs. Agnes Sheets Hutcherson, 48, Frankfort, Route 5, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at King's Daughters Hospital after suffering a heart attack Monday. A native of Franklin County, she was an employee of Genesco Shoe Co. for the last 30 years and a member of the Thorn Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors are her husband, Leo Hutcherson; a daughter Mrs. Paynter Tupts, Franklin County; five sisters, Mrs. Floyd Gilbert, Mrs. Neville Wiley, Mrs. Louis Richardson and Mrs. Humphrey Goins, Franklin County, and Mrs. Fred Neeman, Abilene, Kan.; three brothers, Ira and Neville Sheets, Frankfort County, and Warren Sheets, Nashville, Tenn, and a grandson, Gregory Tupts, Franklin County.

The body is at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Samuel Dennis

Services for Mrs. Margaret Cornish Dennis, 41, wife of Rev. Samuel Dennis, 819 Loudon Avenue, pastor at Northside Baptist Church, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by Pastors Al Gormley, William Hundley, James Hamilton and Earl Thomas. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.

Bearers will be James Lake, Burt Bussell, Homer Bussell, Eugene Littrell, William O. Whalen and Lloyd Logsdon.


Mrs. Maude Troxell

Services for Mrs. Maude Troxell, 81, widow of Owen Troxell, who died at her residence, 106 Daily Avenue, Friday night will be at the Harrod Bros. Funeral Home, Monday 10 a.m., the Rev. Herman Bowers, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.

Stewart Barnes Jr., William L. Cunningham, William Hayden, Leon Page, Ollie Sharfe and Zane Travis will serve as bearers.

A native of Franklin County, born February 16, 1881, she was a daughter of the late Mrs. Viney Jackson Dickey and Frank Dickey. Mrs. Troxell was a member of the Thornhill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John Dailey of Frankfort, and Mrs. Dolly Peters of Cleveland, Ohio; one foster daughter, Mrs. Rosa Lee Hartman of Frankfort; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Page of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The body is at the Harrod Brothers Home where it will remain throughout the service time.


Lafe Martin

Versailles, Feb 5--Lafe Martin, 89, retired farmer, died at 4:45 p.m. today at his residence in Millville after a short illness. He was a native of Jessamine County and a member of the Grassy Springs Christian Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Clarence Richardson, Sr., Versailles, Mrs. Lindsey Flynn and Mrs. Delmer Woodside, Millville, and Mrs. Jack Sayre, Stanford; two sons, william Martin, Shelbyville, and Marion Martin, Millville; 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel.

John Sams

John Sams, 72, died unexpectedly at 8:30 a.m. today at his residence in Millville. He was a native of Franklin County, and was a retired employee of National Distillery. He was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis Sams; three sons, Carlos Sams, Millville; John R. Sams and Gilbert Sams, both of Bellview, Ohio; two stepsons, Kenneth Woolums, Millville, and Charles Woolums, Harrodsburg; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Howard Johnson, Woodford County and Mrs. Robert Todd, Woodford County; one brother, Robert Sams, Clark County; 16 grandchildren.

The body is at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel.


Mrs. Anna Mae Weber

Mrs. Anna Mae Weber, 72, retired merchant, died at 9 a.m. today at the Taylor Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. A native of Woodford County, she was a member of the Versailles Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are two nieces, Mrs. David Sutherland and Mrs. James Olson, both of Versailles, and a nephew, Allen Kessler, Louisville.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Miller-Blackburn Funeral Home by the Rev. Bert Eyster. Burial in the Versailles Cemetery.

Nathan Montgomery

Nathan Montgomery, 64, died at 2:30 a.m. today after suffering a heart attack at his home in Lawrenceburg. He was a native of Anderson County, a retired grocer, and member of the Greers Creek Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Downey Montgomery; a sister, Mrs. L. D. Warren, Versailles, and two brothers, Mathias Montgomery, Versailles, and Floyd Montgomery, Midway.

Anthony J. Long

Funeral services for Anthony J. Long, 73, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel by the Rev. John Ervin and the Rev. Jerry Montgomery. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Oscar Weber, Pete DeVary, Pat Burton, Harvey Jones, Earl Mitchell and Judge Matt Blackard.

Mrs. Lester Moore

Mrs. Minnie Moore, 82, Bridgeport-Benson Road, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at King's Daughters Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Franklin County, she was a member of North Benson Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lester Moore; a son, Clyde Moore, five daughters, Mrs. Elmer Ellis, Mrs. Vernon Corbin, Mrs. Roy Milton, Mrs. Elwood Hulette and Mrs. Gentry Lee, all of Franklin County, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the North Benson Baptist Church by the Rev. Homer Brewer. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Woodford Co. The body is at Roger's Funeral Home.


F. Darnell Shy

Frankfort--F. Darnell Shy, 57, operator of a grocery at nearby Jett, died at 8:30 a.m. at Woodford Memorial Hospital, Versailles, after a short illness. He was a native of Latonia and a member of the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church at Duckers Station and Hiram Lodge No. 4 F&AM.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nora Coleman Shy; a son, Robert Shy, Jett; a daughter, Mrs. Joanne Morris, Jett; a brother, William A. Shy, Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. C. L. O'Briant, Burlington, N. C., and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rogers Chapel by the Rev. Earl Leininger and the Rev. Orville Skeen. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford County.
