Mrs. Jane Marshall

Mrs. Jane Lendsey Snyder Marshall, 40, of 237 Holiday Road, Lexington, died in the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Saturday following a long illness.

A native of Frankfort, she was a daughter of Dr. William S. and Dr. Grace Rollins Snyder, Frankfort. She attended Randolph-Macon College at Lynchburg, Va., and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky.

Mrs. Marshall, the wife of E. David Marshall, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Lexington, where she was director of the Junior Sunday School Department.

She also was a past president of the Lexington Panhellenic Association, a past president of the Kappa Alpha Theta House Corp., a member of the Metropolitan Womens Club, and was active in the Cub Scouts of America.

Survivors, in addition to her husband and parents, include two sons, David Marshall and John Marshall, Lexington; a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Marshall, Lexington; one brother, Dr. William B. Snyder, Dallas, Texas; and one sister, Mrs. Ann Harrod, San Jose, Calif.

Services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. I. Reed Polk. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery.

The body is at the W. R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway, where friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Mrs. Elizabeth Chaffin

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Chaffin, will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Harrod Bros. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Herman Bowers, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot, Frankfort Cemetery.

She died 11:45 Saturday at the King's Daughters Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

She was a native of Henry County, born April 3, 1903, the daughter of the late Julia Wiley Colston and William Colston and the widow of Marion Chaffin. She was a former employee of the Frankfort State Hospital and School and was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Charles P. Kruner, Las Vegas, Nevada, and several nieces and nephews.

Bearers will be Charles Kurner, Marion Chaffin, Elmer Woolums, Jimmy Colston, Joe Colston and John Colston.

Harry Woolums Sr.

Harry Woolums Sr., 68, resident of Laval Heights, Versailles, passed away Tuesday at the Homestead Nursing home in Lexington after a long illness. He was a native of Owen County, a retired farmer, a member of the Glenn Creek Baptist and the Versailles Knights of Pythias Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lena Fox Woolums, five daughters, Mrs. James R. Harlow, Mrs. Wallace Thurman Jr., Mrs. Johnny Slugantz, Mrs. Kenneth Slugantz, all of Versailles and Mrs. Catherine W. Henderson, Lexington, one step-daughter, Mrs. William Hopper, Orlando, Fla., five son, Albert J. and Major Cecil Woolums, Lexington, Estill G. Woolums, Frankfort, Kenneth L. and Harry Woolums Jr., Versailles, 30 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, on sister, Mrs. Catherine Bradden, Georgetown and one brother, Omer Woolums, Versailles.

Funeral services 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles, conducted by the Rev. Sam Hatton, burial in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Casket-bearers: Judge Matt T. Blackard, Mark Gormley, William Crane, Robert Lancaster Jr., Anthony Wilhoite and Jim Owen Gaines.


Sarah Mae Tate

Sarah Mae Tate, 83, of 135 Gratz Street, Midway, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday at her residence after a long illness. A native of Franklin County, she was a member of the Midway Baptist Church.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Phillip Britton, Versa Iilles, two granddaughters, Mrs. Larry McMahan, Versailles, Mrs. Roger Michael Bates, Lawrenceburg, one great-granddaughter, Melissa Ann Bates, Lawrenceburg.

Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday at the the Miller-Blackburn Funeral Home, Versailles, with burial in Versailles Cemetery.

Services for I. J. Colston, 62, of 145 Hickery Drive, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Harrod Bros. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William Yancey Sanders officiating. Burial will be in the family lot, Sunset Memorial Gardens. He died at 6 a.m. today in the King's Daughters' Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

A native of Henry County, he was born Oct. 24. 1913, the son of the late Julia Wiley Colston and William Colston. He was a retired farmer and a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Aldridge Colston,Franklin County; five sons, Jimmy W. Colston, John I. Colston, Joe Colston and Ronny Colston, all of Franklin County, and Billy L. Colston, San Bernadino, Calif., three daughters, Mrs. Frances A.Robinson, Miss Linda C. Colston and Miss Donna K. Colston, all of Franklin County; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Chaffin, Franklin County, and Mrs. Charles P. Kurner, Las Vegas, Nev., and six grandchildren.

Bearers will be William Aldridge, Billy Gene Aldridge, George Aldridge, Bill Tom Downey, Kenneth Wingate and Elmer Woolums.

Daniel R. Gregory

Funeral services for Daniel R. Gregory, of 608 Alpha Drive, husband of Mrs. Jean Keefer Gregory, will be in the Frankfort First Methodist Church at 11. a.m. Monday with the Rev. J. T. Harmon, pastor of the church, officiating.

He died Friday at 11:45 following a heart attack. Burial will be in the family lot in the Frankfort Cemetery.

He and his wife Jean were married May 13, 1972, in the First Methodist Church by Rev. J. T. Harmon. He was a native of Franklin County, born here December 17, 1949, the son of Mrs. Voleta Moore Gregory and Jesse Roland Gregory, both of Frankfort. For the past six years he was employed by the WFKY Radio as a salesman and announcer. He held a third class broadcasting license. He was graduated from Franklin County High School in 1967 and attended Kentucky State University. He was a member of the Frankfort First Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jean Keefer Gregory, Frankfort; one daughter, Miss Allyson Renee Gregory, Frankfort; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse R. Gregory, Frankfort; one sister, Miss Laura Ruth Gregory, Frankfort; maternal grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. J. F. Moore Sr., Frankfort; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Tom Gregory, Lexington, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Paul (Nancy) Morrow, Frankfort.

Bearers will be Ted Moore, George Kyle, Kendell Butler, Michael Hatcher, Bobby Gregory and Russell Hatter.

Visitation will be at the Harrod Brothers Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the First Methodist at 9 a.m. Monday to lie in state until time for the service hour.

Mrs. Cleora Franks

Services for Mrs. Cleora Lee Franks, 73, of Route 3, Glenns Creek Road, widow of Guy E. Franks, will be conducted in Rogers Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Herman Bowers, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. She died 5 a.m. today at her residence following a short illness.

A native of Franklin, she was born October 13, 1902, to the late Crawford and Anna Belle Duvall Lee. She was a housewife and member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, John and Dan Franks, both of Frankfort; four daughters, Mrs. Helen F. Tracy, Mrs. Sue Tracey and Mrs. Shirley Jamison, all of Frankfort, and Mrs. Jane Robinett, Coos Bay, Ore., one brother, Kelly Lee, Frankfort, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Lee Chandler

Lee Chandler, 78, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at his residence on the Steele Pike in Woodford County after a long illness. He was a native of Henry County and a retired employee of the Brown and Foreman Distillery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Swofford Chandler; one daughter, Mrs. Bert A. Gilkison, Lexington, and four grandchildren.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel by the Rev. William McElwain and Glenn Seaton. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were James Howard, Austin Todd, Steve Hogg, Vernon Howard, Austin Cochran and Elmer Downey.
