Subject: Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery - James Family (Marion, Crittenden, KY)

I recently made a trip to Marion, Ky in support of my genealogy search and, while there, photographed the readable monuments on all the James graves. I have made a table of the names on these monuments and annotated some entries with additional information received from other sources. The existence of two Berry F. James with dates of births that rule out a father/son relationship (probably uncle/nephew) created some problems when adding additional information. Therefore the year of birth of each is generally listed as well as the name. DoBs and DoDs on this table, given as 1/1/Year, are used when the monument contained only the year of birth or death. I have not included the photos of the monuments, for obvious reasons, but if anyone is interested in one of the monuments listed, I’d be glad to forward them a copy.  The Grave Photo Location column was used, in order to locate a photograph, when a given monument included the names of both spouses .In several cases the same name is repeated in the table. This occurs when the grave site contains a military service plate, as well as the family monument.

In any event, after compiling this table, it occurred to me that it may be of use to other persons seeking their family history. I am therefore forwarding this material for consideration for inclusion in the Crittenden County, KY, Archives. For your information, the Maudie James listed on this listing is my paternal grandmother.

Sincerely,

Ernest W. James
