My sister Deanna and I are searching for records of McNeelys in Franklin
Co. ca.
1850. The 1850 census for Brookville Township (21 Sep 1850) shows:
House 242, Family 242, Robert McMeely (spelled the way it showed up on
the census), age 27, farmer, born VA. Roberts wife was listed as Hannah,
age 24, born VA. Her name was
actually Leannah Burdine Bunyard. Children were Sarah, 4, born IN. and
Mariah, 2, born IN.
Mariah never showed up on any further census records so she might be
buried in Franklin Co. The 1860 Census shows them as living in Shelby
County, IN, in Shelbyville (third ward). They had three other children
that could have been born in Franklin Co.:
Ida McNeely, born ca 1851.
William Preston McNeely, born Dec, 1854. my g-grandfather.
John McNeely, born ca 1857.
The Preston name keeps showing up with various McNeely families but I
don't know the source of it.
We are looking for any records that establish who Roberts father and
mother were. We believe that Robert had at least two brothers that came
to Indiana with him. It is also possible that his parents came at the
same time, but we don't know.
If you can provide any leads we would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your time,
