Kessler/Esmann/Hackmann/Gaefe: Wilhelmine Kessler b. 25 Aug.1851 in a place called Frarmer's Retreat; i.e. now known as St. John's Lutheran Ch. Mother was Mary Elsmann, or Mary Elamann? in any case her father was John R. Kessler. She had a sister: Sophie Marie b.13 Oct. 1854. according to the records of St. John's the Kesslers were born there in numbers: from 1851 thru 1882, Henry Kessler and Marie Longkamp it seems had 12 children., The question is who is John Kessler, where is the Farmer's Retreat located and how far from Cincinnati is it located? It also seems the German people travel ed from Cincinnati to the Farmers Retreat to have their babies, and since it was a German Retreat in was the place to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the Ind. Archives (land records) there is listed a JAMES STEPHENS as having a land transaction 4/6/1818. I would like to know if he is any relation to GEORGE B. STEPHENS, DOB: 1816. Later moved to Mo. and changed his name to STEVENS.

I would appreciate any information on two individuals that were married 30 November 1901 at Alexandria, Indiana. The husband's name was Aaron Anderson (or Andersson) of Swedish descent. The wife's name was Paulina Johanna Anderson (Andersdotter) also of Swedish descent. This was the second marriage for Aaron, who previously wed Christen Sakrison on October 12, 1895. Christen died sometime before November 1901.

I am looking for info on several families tha eventually ended up in Andre or Buchanan Co. MO. The first is JANES. Willam H. JANES had a son Henry C.. I believe he was b. somewhere (possibly Fayette) Ind. ca 1831. This family was traveling with the FLESHERS. Adam FLESHER b. ca 1814 VA and his wife Elizabeth____?, had two children by the mid 1830's, Sarah and Amanda. (The rest were born after they reached MO.) Amanda eventually married Henry C. JANES. I am also looking for info on the CHRISTIE family. Delilah CHRISTIE married John TOMLINSON around 1835. Several of their Children were born in Ind. (This family also moved to Andrew Co. Mo. by 1850's) Another Ind. family is the CALDWELLs. John CALDWELL and wife Margret CLOUSER, had at least 4 children in Ind. befor moving on to MO. I have info on these families after the time frame of 1840's, if anyone is in need of help. I need info on parents, and other data befor 1840's. Thank you!

I am searching for any Indiana links to the TILL family. My husband's, Richard James TILL, grandfather, Robert John TILL (1894- 1977), arrived in the US at Ellis Island, coming from Ireland, in 1906. Both of his parents,James TILL and Rachel ROBERTSON, of Londonderry City, N. Ireland were deceased at this time. Robert John was a 12 yr old boy traveling with his older sister, Margaret Elizabeth TILL (b.1888), and his two older brothers, James (Jim) TILL (b.1889) and David TILL (b.1890). They went to Indiana where they lived for a while with two spinster aunts (names unknown). At some point, Robert John TILL moved to Rochester, NY...prior to 1919, as he married Jennie VANDERWALL that yr in NY. Any info regarding this family would be greatly appreciated.

MARION COUNTY-Searching ancestry/information on Patrick DEE who was b. (ca. 1830) in Ireland. He married 1856 to Hannah Norah (or Hanorah) POWERS who was b. in Scotland or Ireland. Patrick had a brother named John DEE who was in the Civil War. They settled in Keweenaw and Houghton Counties in Michigan. A few years later they went to Brownsburg, Indiana where Patrick died February 13th, 19?? (ca. 1923) at the age of 93 at his home on North Green Street. His remains are said to be at Holy Cross Cemetery. They had about thirteen children including Thomas, Lawrence, Martin (lived in Detroit), Nora, James (lived in North Dakota), Mrs. McCAFFERY, Jefferson (lived in Montana), John (lived in California). Most of their children were born in Michigan.

Looking for information on my gggrandfather, JOHN D. BOWMAN. He was born bef. 1861 in or near Mexico, IN. In 1879 he married MARGARET HOLTER, b. 1859 in Akron, IN. I believe they were married in Wabash Co., IN. They had several children, including JOHN FRANKLIN BOWMAN b. 1880, EVA MARIE BOWMAN b. 1883, GLADYS BOWMAN b. 1892 and CLARENCE BOWMAN b. 1895. WEST I am looking for info on Thomas W. WEST, born in Indiana, unknown county, in 1835. He married Mary A. ? from Tennessee, and they lived near Nixa, Missouri and had had least 7 children, one of whom was my great great grandmother, Missouri Tennessee WEST. I found him in the 1880 Christian County, MO census, but don't have anything else on him, other than his dates: 1835-1883, buried in Payne Cemetery, NW of Nixa, MO. Thanks!

MONROE COUNTY Seeking info. re. ancestors named Schwartz (earlier Swartz) Lived in Monroe Cty. around Knight Ridge and Schwartz Rd. Known ancestors incl. John Henry Schwartz (jr. and sr.) and Valentine Swartz. Were prob. mostly farmers. Several descendents of these moved to south side of Indianapolis after 1910. My father was born George Edward Schwartz and later adopted by Collins' after auto/train accident killed parents, John and Pearl (nee Corman).
