JEFFERSON COUNTY

CENSUS IMAGES

The donation of the Jefferson County, Indiana, Census images for permanent, free display in the USGenWeb Archives was made possible through the generosity of Ken Hixon (kenhixon@pacbell.net) and the permission of S-K Publications.  These census images are copyrighted by S-K Publications and are not to be republished or redistributed without their permission. The images are also available on CD (in a higher-quality format that was reduced when they were converted to .GIF files for the Web) from S-K Publications, PO Box 8173, Wichita KS 67208-0173. Please visit the USGenWeb Archives Census Project if you are interested in transcribing this county census.

1860 Census images

1880 Census images

The 1880 Jefferson County, IN, Census contains 555 pages (census images) in

Enumeration Districts 117 through 133.

The handwriting is very faint and difficult to read on a number of pages in

this county, particularly in Enumeration District 119

(especially pages 27, 39,55, and 56), Enumeration District 127

(especially page 21), Enumeration District 132 (especially pages 26

through 30), and Enumeration District 133 (especially pages 07 through 10).

On the microfilm, the Enumeration District between 127 and 129 has ED 34

written on all of its pages, but we have numbered these pages as being in

Enumeration District 128, as that is probably what they were supposed

to have been.

One unusual feature of this county's census was that in

Enumeration District 120, between  pages 28 and 29 appear 28 pages of

Enumeration District 191 of Harrison County,  IN

(the stamped numbers for these pages were 55 through 68).
