Arthur & Elzey BROWN of Autauga Co., AL, appoint Ephraim VAUSE of Sumpter Co.,
SC.-children of Richard BROWN, dec’d of Lenoir Co., NC & Elizabeth GRAY of
Montgomery Co., AL.

Autauga County

How all men by these presents that we, Arthur BROWN and Elzey BROWN of the County
and State aforesaid, have constituted and appointed and by these presents do
constitute and appoint Ephraim VAUSE of Sumpter District in the State of South
Carolina our true and lawful agent and attorney, for us and in our names to apply
for, collect, demand and sue for, such legacy or legacies of whatever kind or
description, which was or were left and bequeath to us, or either of us, by our
father Richard BROWN deceased, late of Lenoir County in the State of North Carolina,
in such debt or debts, notes, bonds, accounts, or other dues, rents, profits or
interest, which are our right, either on account of such legacy or legacies, or
otherwise and for us and in our names, to give such receipts, acquitences and
discharges, as, on payment of the same to the said Ephraim VAUSE, we could give,
were we personally present hereby ratifying and confirming whatever the said Ephraim
VAUSE may or shall do in the premises and making his acts therein good and binding
on us, our heirs, executors and administrators, to all intents and purposes, both in
laws and equity.
In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hand and seals this 2nd day of December
A.D. 1833.

Personally appears before me Elizabeth GRAY the mother of Arthur and Elzy BROWN and
after her duly sworn deposith amid safely on Oath that the above named Arthur and
Elzy BROWN are the lawful heirs of Richard BROWN.
Sworn and subscribed to before me the 5 of December 1833.

I, James E. BELRES, Clerk of the County Court on and for said County, or hereby
certify, that, A. G. HAYNES is now, and was at the town of Maken, the foregoing
alter taker an acting Justice of the Peace for said County and the full faith and
credit should be given to his acts as such officer.
Given under my hand and seal of Office, this the 5th day of December, A. D. 1833 and
of American Independence the 58th year.

to be their act and deed, and given for the purposes and interests therein
expressed.
