In the name of God Amen. This 26th day of July in the Year of Our Lord 1776 
that I Thomas Harris of the Province of No Carolina & County of Mecklenburg, 
being Sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & memory blessed be God 
therefor, calling unto mind the mortality of my body, Knowing that it is 
appointed for all men once to die Do make & ordain this my last Will & 
Testament, that is to Say principally & first of all I give & recommend my 
Soul unto God that gave, my body to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like 
& decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the 
general Resurrection I shall receive the Same again by the mighty power of 
God; And as touching Such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to 
bless me with in this life, I give Devise & dispose of the Same in the 
following manner
Imprimis. It is my will & I do allow my beloved wife Rachel her Bed & bed 
Clothes to be for her use and at her disposal ~ 
Item. It is my will & I do allow my other bed for the use of my three Children 
Item. It is my will & I do allow the plantation that I do now live on & all my 
personal Estate, (That is my real & personal Estate not before mentioned) to 
be sold & the money Equally divided to my wife Rachel & my three Children, 
James Wallace Harris, Agnes Harris & Jeremiah Harris.
Item. it is my will & I do allow that the Interest of the divided Sums of 
money that my real & personal Estate Shall amount to. It is my will and I do 
allow it for the maintance & Support of my three Children whose names as 
before mentioned only my wifes divided Sum not to be for the maintainance & 
Support of my children, but both it & the Interest to be for Her own use & 
disposal
Item. It is my will & I do allow that before any Division of my Estate be made 
that all my Just & Lawful debts & funeral charges be fully paid & Satisfied.  
Item. It is my Will & I do allow my Brothers Samuel Harris & James Harris & my 
beloved wife Rachel to be my Joint Executors of this my last Will & Testament, 
Ratifying this and confirming this & no other to be my last Will & Testament. 
In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this 26th day of July ~~

                                 Codicil to the above
Item. It is my will & I do allow that if in case anything Should happen that 
Shall render my wife unable or unwilling to Support & maintain these my three 
children above mentioned upon the Interest of their money to them willed & 
bequeathed that then the aforesaid Interest shall be reserved for each of them 
for their use when they come of age.-- 
Ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my Last Will & Testament. In 
witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this 26th day of July Anno 
Domini 1776.

NOTE: While Thomas Harris is not mentioned in will of James Harris, there is 
strong evidence this Thomas is also a son of James and Mary McIlhenny Harris. 
Thomas died prior to writing of Will by James Harris.
