WILL OF JOSEPH KERR, SR.
In the name of God amen 13th day of May 1771 I Joseph Karr of North Carolina
and County of Mecklenburg Being on perfect health mind and memory But about to
take a long journey thanks be to God for it therefore Calling to mind the
mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die
Do make and Ordain this my last will and testament that is to say Principally
and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God
that gave it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a Decent
Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors nothing Doubting But at the
general Resurrection I Shall Receive the same Body again By the mighty Power
of God and as touching such Worldly Estate Wherewith it hath pleased God to
Bless me with in this life I give Demise and Dispose of the same in the
following manner and form Imprecise I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my Dearly
and well Beloved wife the third part of my Whole Estate after all my just
Debts are paid Item I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Seven and Six pence
Item and the rest of my Estate I allow to be Equally Divided between my two
Daughters Racheal Crocket and Elisabeth Parker and if they should Die before
their husbands it is to go to the Heirs of their Bodies Item I give and
bequeath to my son Williams children five and thirty pound twelve shillings
that is Due to me from his Estate I likewise constitute make and ordain
William Alexander, blacksmith and Hezekiah Alexander, Esquire to be my sole
Executors of this my last will and testament all and singular my lands
messages and tenements.
