Mary John
July 27th, 1777
Mecklenburg County, North Carolina



In the name of God Amen.  I Mary John of Mecklenburg
County No Carolina, being weak in body of sound judgment
& memory. Do make & ordain this as my last Will & Testament &
desire it may be received by all as such, I most Humbly
bequeath my soul to God my maker, & my body to the Earth
from whince it was taken in full assurance if its resurrec
-tion at the last day thro' the almighty power & goodness of God
my maker__ as for my Burial I desire it may be without pomp or state(?)
but decent at the discretion of my Executors & Children, And as to
my Worldly Estate after Just Debts & funeral expenses paid__ 
I devise it may be believed? as follows Viz Item. I give & bequeath
to my beloved Children Zephaniah John, Benjamin John, Daniel
John & Roger John my Tract of Land I now live on to be equally
divided as follows Zephaniah John to have his equal_
number of Acres Including his plantation where he now lives
& Benjamin John his number of acres Including his clear field
& Daniel & Roger John have their number of acres including
the plantation where I now live to be divided as they agree
between them two selves__ Item. I give unto my son Daniel
John one Cow his choice of my Stock of Cattle about this
plantation & the remainder of the Cattle to be Equally
divided as they can agree to Zephaniah John, Daniel John
& Roger John, I likewise give to my son Daniel John a large
brown horse three years old which was raised in Georgia
& the remainder of my Stock of horses that is about in this
Range I Give to be equally divided between my sons Daniel
John, & Roger John as they can agree, Item. I give to my beloved
son Benjamin John all my Cattle & horses in the province of
Georgia that was left there last spring when the others were 
Brought away, Item. I give to my son Zephaniah John one
weather? & Ewe, and the rest of the sheep to be divided between
my sons Daniel & Roger John, Item. I give and bequeath to my
son Zephaniah John one bed quilt & one big pot Item. I give
to my sons Daniel & Roger John all my money which is due
to me by note, Item. I Give to my beloved Daughter-in-law Eliza
=beth John my saddle. & the remainder of my estate I give
& bequeath to be Equally divided between my two sons Daniel
& Roger John, And I do hereby constitute & appoint my
beloved sons Daniel John & Roger John as my executors of
this my last Will & Testament In Witness Whereof I have hereunto
set my hand & seal this 27th day of July 1777__
Signed, Seald, & pronounced as the last Will & Testament of
the subscriber in presence of
