WILLIAM SMITH 
of North Carolina

   William Smith applied for revolutionary pension while living in Mecklenburg
County, N. C. He entered the service under General Griffith Rutherford and
Colonel Adam Alexander in the Cherokee Campaign. He served under General
Benjamin Lincoln and Captain James Osborn in the Siege of Charleston; and also
served with General Thomas Sumter, Colonel William Polk and Captain Thomas Shelby.
