Mecklenburg County, NC - Robert Osborne Revolutionary War Pension, 1832

Dear Madam:

I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim
W.892, it appears Robert Osborne (the name also appears as Ausburn,
Osborn and Ozburn) was born in 1755, in York County, Pennsylvania,
and moved with his father to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina 
before the Revolution.

While residing in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, he enlisted
in October, 1775, and served until December 25, 1775, as a private
in Captain James Houston's Company in Colonel Thomas Polk's North 
Carolina Regiment.

He enlisted in January, 1776, and served three months as a private
in Captain James Ausburn's (soldier's brother) Company, Colonel
Polk's North Carolina Regiment, and went on an expedition against
the Scotch Tories.

He enlisted in July, 1776, and served three months as a private in
Captain Neal Morisson's Company in Colonel Adam Alexander's North
Carolina Regiment, and went on an expedition against the Cherokee
Indians.

When Cornwallis came up about Charlotte, he volunteered as a private
in Captain Loury's Company of Horse and served a three months tour,
was also under Captains Graham and Harris while on this tour.

He enlisted in September, 1781, and served three months under Captain
James Ausburn and Colonel Ervin.

After the war, he lived in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, until
1803, then moved to Bucks County, state not given, and after living
there two years, moved to Williamson County, Tennessee.

He was allowed pension on his application executed October 9, 1832,
while residing in Williamson County, Tennessee.

He died July 8, 1834.

He married August 16, 1785, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina,
Jane, her maiden name not given. She was allowed pension on her
application executed December 4, 1840, at which time she was aged
eighty years, and a resident of Williamson County, Tennessee.

John Wylie Osborne, their first son, born June 9, 1786
Noble Osborne, their second son, born November 21, 1787
Jennet Osborne, their daughter, born December 5, 1789
Thomas Osborne born May 25, 1792
James Osborne born April 4, 1795
Martha Osborne born September 15, 1797
Jane Osborne born January 16, 1800
