STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA   COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER SESSIONS  MECKLENBURG COUNTY
April Term, 1838

JOSEPH W. MORRISON
       vs.
JAMES W. W. FARIS

Original Attachment: Execution by a Justice of the Peace; Levied on the lands 
of the defendant, adjoining the lands of JONATHAN REID, ZENAS A. GRIER and 
others lying on the waters of Steel Creek.

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendant, JAMES. W. W. 
FARIS, is an inhabitant of another State, it is therefore ordered by the Court 
that publication be made for six successive weeks in the Charlotte Jurnal 
notifying said defendant, non-resident to be and appear at our next Court of 
Pleas & Quarter Sessions to be held for the County of Mecklenburg at the Court 
House at Charlotte, on the 4th Monday in July. Then and there to plead, answer 
or demur to this petition filed. Otherwise judgment will be taken pro confesso 
and the matter heard ex parte as to him. Witness Braly Oates, Clerk of the 
said Court at office on the 4th Monday in April, A.D., 1838.
