STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA   COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER SESSIONS  MECKLENBURG CO.
July Term, 1837

JAMES M. HUTCHISON
      vs.
WM. S. W. HAYES

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendant, WM. S. W. 
HAYES, is not an inhabitant of this State, it is therefore ordered by the 
Court that publication for six weeks successive be made in the Charlotte 
Journal notifying said defendant, non resident, to be and appear at out next 
Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions to be held for said County at the Court 
House in Charlotte on the 4th Monday in October next. Then and there to plead, 
answer or demur to this petition filed. Otherwise judgement will be taken pro 
confesso and the matter heard ex parte as to them. Witness BRALY OATES, Clerk 
of the said Court at office on the 4th Monday in July A.D., 1837.
