STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA  COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER SESSIONS   MECKLENBURG COUNTY
Oct. Term, 1838

TAYLOR & CHAFFIN
       vs.
POWEL ORTON

Orginial Attachment: Levied on an unfinished one horse vehicle in the hands of 
ISAAC SPENCER and him summoned as Garnishee 

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendant, POWEL ORTON, 
is not an inhabitant of this State. It is therefore ordered by the Court that 
publication be made for six weeks in the Charlotte notifying the said 
defendent, non-resident to be and appear at our next Court to be held for the 
County of Mecklenburg at the Court House in Charlotte on the 4th Monday in 
January next. Then and there to plead, answer or demur to this petition filed, 
otherwise, judgment will be taken pro confesso and heard ex parte as to him.
Witness, BRALY OATES, Clerk of said Court at Office on the 4th Monday in 
October, 1838.
