April 7, 1837 Charlotte Journal April 7, 1837
MURDER -- On Saturday last, in the lower part of Mecklenburg, HENRY MASSEY
was stabbed in the abdoman by MORRIS SEBORN, which resulted immediately in his
death. SEBORN is now confined to the jail of this place to await his trial at
the next Superior Court. There was no just cause for the committing of this
deed, and the prisoner himself said there was none. But attributes it to his
being intoxicated. This is another melancholy result of the excessive use of
ardent spirits.
