Fountain WILLIAMS to Jacob RHODES
Bk. 3, p. 9
25 Jan. 1799

This Indenture made this Twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord One 
Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine between Fountain WILLIAMS of the State of 
North Carolina and County of Jones of the one part and Jacob RHODES of the State 
of and County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said Fountain 
WILLIAMS for an in consideration of the sum of five pounds the receipt whereof I 
do hereby acknowledge and for the same I have bargained and sold unto the said 
Jacob RHODES his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land in 
the County aforesaid and on the South side of Tuckahoe Creek Beginning at a pine 
stump his own and said RHODES corner and joining with their line N 70 E 14 1/2 
pole to a hickory stump thence S 36 E 9 1/2 pole to the center of the Main Road 
thence up the same S 76 W 4 poles thence S 22 E 19 pole to a large pine in the 
edge of a pond in said RHODES line thence with the same to the Beginning 
containing by estimation one & half acres be the same more or less Tr. have & to 
hold the before mentioned land an premises with all and singular the privileges 
and appurtenances thereunto belonging and I the said Fountain WILLIAMS doth for 
myself my heirs Executors and administrators covenant and agree to and with the 
said Jacob RHODES that I will warrant and defend the said Land against the claim 
of me or my heirs and assigns forever unto the said Jacob RHODES his heirs and 
assigns forever. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day 
& year before written.

Then was the foregoing deed of sale from Fountain WILLIAMS truly proven in open 
court by this Oath of Amos JOHNSTON one of the subscribing witnesses thereunto 
and ordered to be Registered.
