Insel SPENCE of Dobbs County, NC to Jacob TURNER of Jones Co., NC
13 March 1788

This Indenture made this the thirteenth of March in the year of our Lord 
Christ-One thousand seven hundred and Eighty Eight-Between Insel SPENCE of 
then part and Jacob TURNER in the State of North Carolina and County of 
Dobbs, Farmer of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Insell SPENCE for 
an din consideration of the sum of thirty pounds specie to him in hand paid 
by the said Jacob TURNER the receipt whereof Doth hereby acknowledge himself 
& therewith fully satisfied contented and confirmed and by these presents 
Doth absolutely five grant Bargain Sell alienate  Convey and Confirm unto 
the said Jacob TURNER his heirs and assigns forever one certain message? 
track parcel of Land situate in Dobbs County aforesaid and on the North side 
of Tuckahoe Creek beginning at 4? Red Oak on the mouth of Indigo Branch and 
runs N 61 W 68 poles to a Lightwood Stake then S 29 W 112 poles to a pine 
then S 50 E 30 poles to a sweet gum on Tuckahoe Creek then down the meanders 
of the Creek to the first Station Containing by Estimation forty seven acres 
of land be the same more or less To have and to hold the above said 
bargained and devised premises with all and Singular the Appurtenances to 
the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Jacob TURNER 
his heirs and assigns forever to his and their proper use benefit and Behoof 
forever and I the said Incel SPENCE Doth covenant and agree to and with the 
said Jacob TURNER that Before the unsealing and Delivering of these presents 
that I am the true and Lawfull owners of the above mentioned lands and 
plantation and have in myself good right full power and lawful authority to 
see Demise and Dispose of the same in full and perfect manner to all intents 
and purposes as any of the most learned in the law can require. Doth by 
virtue of these presents Agree and engage to warrant secure and Defending 
all and singular the lands and plantations Aforesaid to him he said Jacob 
TURNER his heirs and assigns forever against any person or persons 
whatsoever that ever Challenge or claim the same the Quitrents due to the 
State only excepted in Witness whereof I the said Insel SPENCE have hereunto 
Set my Hand and affixed my seal this the Day and Year first above written.
