This indenture made the twelfth day of October in the Year of Our Lord One 
thousand seven hundred and Eighty Nine Between John WILLIAMS of the County 
of Duplin and State of N. Carolina of the one part and Jacob RHODES of the 
County of Jones and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the 
sd. John WILLIAMS for and in consideration for he sum of six pounds to him 
in hand paid by the sd. Jacob RHODES his Heirs and Assigns forever A certain 
tract or parcel of land situate on the South side of Tuckahoe Creek. 
Beginning at said WILLIAMS' corner, Red Oak on the side of the main Road in 
the old patent line of Land patented by Abram BUSSET'S running south eighty 
five East Eight poles to a Hicory Stump said RHODES'S corner then N seventy 
East twelve poles to a pine said WILLIAM'S corner then N 61 East sixteen 
poles to a Hicory then North thirty four west thirteen poles to the old 
patent line aforesaid then along said line to the beginning being part of a 
tract of land patented by sd. John WILLIAMS and part of a tract of land 
granted to Joseph KINSEY containing by estimation three acres be the same 
more or less.
To have and to hold the above mentioned land and premises and every part and 
parcel thereof with the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging 
unto the said Jacob RHODES to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the 
said Jacob RHODES his Heirs and Assigns forever and the said John WILLIAMS 
for himself and his Heirs and Assigns forever and the said John WILLIAMS for 
himself and his Heirs the Aforesaid land and premises and every part and 
parcel thereof against the claim and claims of any person or persons 
whatsoever claiming by from or under him or his Heirs and against himself 
and his Heirs to the said Jacob RHODES his Heirs and assigns shall and Will 
Warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness Whereof he the said 
John WILLIAMS hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first 
above written:
