Land Grant to Jacob RHODES

To all to Whom these presents shall come greeting, Know Ye that we for in 
consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby 
granted paid into our Treasury by Jacob RHODES have given & granted & by these 
presents do give & grant unto the said Jacob RHODES a tract of land containing 
forty acres lying & being in the County of Jones on the North side of Tuckahoe 
Creek the fork of sd. creek & Grate Branch beginning at the sum of sd. branch 
at a stake the center of a maple water oak and black gum & runs S 25 W 24 
poles to a stake Wm. PARREY'S corner of his patent thence with his line S 34 E 
108 poles to a large cypress on the edge of the run of Tuckahoe Creek then N 
50 E 70 poles down the meanders of said creek to the mouth of sd. great branch 
thence up the meanders of the sum to the Beginning Entered the 3rd of January 
1799 as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods 
waters mines minerals hereditaments & appurtenances tot he sd. land belonging 
or appertaining to hold to the sd. Jacob RHODES his heirs and assigns forever 
yielding & paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general 
assembly from time to time & may direct provided always that the said grantee 
shall save this grant to be registered in the register's office or our sd. 
County of Jones written twelve months from the date hereof  otherwise the same 
shall be void & of no affect. In Testimony whereof we have named there our 
letters to be made patent & our great seal to be hereunto affixed. Witness 
Benjm. WILLIAMS, Esquire our Governor, Captain General & Commander in Chief at 
Raleigh the 18th day of December in the XXV year of our Independence & in the 
year of Lord one thousand eight hundred.
