Land Grant to Jacob RHODES

State of North Carolina
To all to whom these presents shall come greeting Know Ye that we for and in 
consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres of land 
hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Jacob RHODES have given & granted by 
these presents do give & grant unto the sd. Jacob RHODES a tract of land 
containing twelve acres lying and being in the county of Jones in the West 
side of Great Branch, Beginning at a water oak in the run of sd. branch 
William WINSETT'S corner & runs with his line W 128 poles thence S 47 W 69 
poles to Amos JOHNSTONS line thence with the same N 37 W3 poles to Jacob 
JOHNSTONS corner thence with his lines N 47 E 69 poles thence E 80 poles 
thence N 15 W 95 poles thence E 23 poles to a black gum in the run of sd. 
branch thence down the meander of the same to the Beginning entrance the 25 
April 1798 was by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all 
woods waters mines minerals hereditaments & appurtenances to the sd. land 
belonging & appertaining to have and to hold to the said Jacob RHODES his 
heirs and assigns forever yelding & paying to no such sums of money yearly or 
otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provides always 
that the sd. Grantee shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registrars 
Office of our said county of Jones within twelve months from the date hereof 
otherwise the same shall be void & of no affect. In testimony where of we have 
come then in letters to be made Patent & our great seal to be hereunto 
affixed,
Witness: Benjamin WILLIAMS, Esquire, Governor, Captain General and Commander 
in Chief of Raleigh the 26th day of Nov. in the XXth year of our Independence 
& in the year of our Lord one thousand seven & ninety nine.
