Acquisition:

Loan - Edwin Lawrence Miller, Jr., Raleigh, NC - November 17, 1944

Description:

The various land grants and survey (1765-1818) are to land on Joshua's
Creek in Dobbs (later Lenoir and Jones) County to Philip Miller, Howel
Brown, Jospeh Davis, John Lowry, James Brown, Benjamin Davis, Durham
Leigh, Jacob Truhitt, Job Ives, and Benjamin Fordham. The deeds (1768-
1808) trace the transfer of these lands. 

Philip Millier apparently acquired a large part of this property by grant
and deed. One item is an account of Stephen Miller (1786), sheriff of
Anson County, with the State of North Carolina
