                        SLAMS AND EPITAPHS

RALPH HONE
He has his tastes, and so have we, but when we see his team,
a lustrous blonde, we all agree.

ERMAN HOLZ
This studious lad is striving to be an editor.

MILDRED EISENHUT
Mildred is not smart; she is brilliant; we call her "Slim"
     --can you find out why?

CAROL MORSE
If one Carol in Latin to Marie, can one give boyish
     impersonations?

ALEXANDER MARINO
Hello, Alex; how are you and the chemistry teacher getting
     along?

JOHN CROCKET
He talks and talks; he never is quiet. If words were
     bullets, how many he'd kill.

ALICE MAGEE
Latest report: "Gil" is considered a lucky guy.

DOROTHY HEATH
She did not have to go to Egypt to find her "Nile".

JEROME KONIECKO
Our very capable understudy --keep it up Jerome; you will be
     an actor some day.

GEORGE GILLETTE
"Ja let me do this, ja let me do that?" Can you judge a
man's standing by the call he gets?

[Page 16]

MARGARET HIGGINS
Mention Ireland when Pat is around and you'll hear a long
     discourse on that country.

RUTH FOXWELL
When a healthy maiden stoops to athletics and finds that it
takes time, does she neglect her cosmetics? Never, only her
     lessons.

WALTER ALBERTYNSKI
     Girls? They never worry me.

DOUGLAS TOFT
"No, I'm not Dallas. He is much different than I."

ANNE MILLS
It's not Wilbur or Jerry, but Hank.

VIOLET OSBORNE
If she would close one eye she would make a good needle.

CARL STEINMAN
Flowers may live, flowers may die, but Violets live on
     forever.

RUTH PEDERSON
She will always treasure the higher things in life.

HELEN WOLFF
Oh, but isn't she the modest little Senior?

VERA VOELKERT
A supposedly wise man once said, that beauty and brains do
not agree, but Vera is the exception that proves the rule.

[Page 17]

ALFONSO WITTKOWSKI
He plays baseball, and we hope he will make another Babe
     Ruth.

STEPHEN SADLON
He hangs out like a stop sign, but she never pays any
     attention to him!

ALICE HANSON
Fair Alice, what will the other two do without you?

DOROTHY NELSON
Wise Dorothy just hates boys to hear her talk, --yet some
nights she comes home away after "nine"!

LUELLA LEHMAN
A regular shorthand wizard; she wants to be, oh so fair!

HELEN MOORE
To her teacher's art is given; she wonders, "Are there
     schools in heaven?"

VIRGINIA MORRIS
Helen of Troy, Mary Pickford, and now Virginia!

MARY HACHOOGAIN
Of her dark eyes one must beware.

WILLIAM BUFFHAM
There ought to be a law against such indulgence --Woolley!

JOHN KAUPIE
'Tis said that the red sweater he wears is to attract the
     girls.

[Page 18]

VIOLA KNOFLOCK
Behind her specs you'll find a most interesting pair of
     eyes.

MARY HINSMAN
Mary is quite a thing, for she minds her P's and Q's.

VICTOR BUNCK
Victor is our busy "Gimal" boy.

RAYMOND WUERTZBERGER
He may seem modest, but he is not so shy.

ELLA POMIECKO
The modest violet need not advertise; all seek her.

EDITH OLSON
The silly boys? My work is my life, and I've no time for
     foolishness.

RUSSEL LANGE
He studies and works just as hard as he can; a reliable lad
     is he.

PAUL STRAND
Good things usually come in small packages.

DOROTHY BECK
     Silence is golden.

BERNICE ANDREWS
Just a brown-eyed glance, a pleasant smile, a tilt of the
     head, and Bernice is past.

[Page 19]

MYRA JOHNSON
Myra is a short little lady who studied so hard that she
     could not see.

MARGARET SMALLEY
"Woman's Crowning Glory is Her Hair". So is Margaret's!

OSCAR KRAUSE
"Oscar doesn't let his legs carry him away when there's
     something doing that is merry.

GEORGE KEHL
How can we slam you, George. We can't, that's all!

MILDRED KLECBEKA
She has a sunny smile and a sweet disposition.

GRACE HORNER
She has a cheery greeting for everyone.

LELAND PARKER
Oh, shiek of shieks, why be so bashful? For admiring you are
     girls by the score.

JEANNETTE PETERSEN
She surely is a whiz at English literature.

DOROTHY WHEELER
Modesty seldom resides in a breast not enriched by noble
     virtues.

[Page 20]

MILTON JONES
Not just a student --a real man.

FREDERICK MANDERNACK
Perseverance is a worthy virtue --sometimes, Matty.

LIBBY BOUSKA
She is a cheery, modest girl who gets her lessons thoroughly
and asks of no one aid.

GERALDINE PETERS
Busy, happy, and hardworking, but little Miss Prim just the
     same.

MARJORIE WIESS
There's always a smile for you and for me when Marjorie is
     near.

LUELLA TRUCKER
Others may be bewildered by Douglas and Dallas, but Luella
     knows which is which.

ADA GREEN
Would that I had that smile!

IDA LAINE
She's a girl of varied accomplishments; she can smile at
you, translate Latin, and typewrite one finger-edly.

EDWARD DALE
He never allows his studies to interfere with his education.

FRED THIES
Our reporter makes "Charleston Pat" looks like a stick!

[Page 21]

CARL HAND
Oh, how he reveled when he read that keen poetry note book.

MARVIN HERMES
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder."

DORIS PEEHN
She comes all the way from Sturtevant to attend our great
     big school.

HELEN GEYER
She believes in sharing with all her friends; so poor Billy
has to take all of them home.

RUTH CAPE
Cape of Racine, such a nice gurll, such a sport, and such an
     impudent nose!

ESTHER BRAUER
To know her is to love her.

GLADYS H. HANSEN
She was usually behind, but she finally got there.

LEAH LEVIN
Though friendships may fade and wither, the ones made with
     Leah are lasting.

GEORGE RONSHOLDT
Between Chaucer and Woolley George will be gray-headed in a
     few weeks.

JAMES BOLTON
Everybody loves a sheik; that's why Sh-E's in love with you.

[Page 22]

ALBERT STOFFEL
He claims to be a woman-hater, but he surely can wait and
walk with the little blonde in the hall.

MARTIN JACOBSEN
He was so busy with his 'Kipi' work that he put up a sign
which read "Out for dinner", and still they bothered him!

JESSIE FRENCH
Mid rain or snow, heat or cold, you will always find Jessie
     on the go.

GERALDINE BASSINDALE
     Opposites attract --ask Geraldine.

LUDWIG HOLZ
Ludwig of the snipe bag fame talks and talks 'till more
     cannot be said.

MILO CHRISTENSON
Yes, he's seen, but seldom heard.

JOSEPHINE DAVIS
     She is quiet at 'school'.

MARGARET FINK
If she will, she will --you may depend on it; if she won't,
she won't --there's an end to it.

TURNER OVERSON
He is a diligent student in all his studies and our future
     Paderewski.

BEN SCHWARTZ
He can talk even longer and louder with his hands than with
     his mouth.

[Page 23]

OSCAR JOHNSON
Every girl envies those curls of yours Oscar.

WILFORD MARSHALL
He needs must be a wise man; he speaks so much of himself.

DOROTHY LYNCH
In the olden days Judge Lynch ruled, but a glance from this
young author Lynch's black eyes is fully as destructive as
the hemp of her noted predecessor.

LOUISE RIBBECK
On Sunday night I'm busy, on Wednesday too; so how can I
     make a date with you?

MARTHA SMITH
Friend Martha manages to keep without the social whirl.

GLADYS SIEVERKROPP
This world's a dreary thing --I would I knew the remedy.

ETHEL SYPHRIT
She was always here with or without her lessons.

LORRAINE BERGERSON
To hear her talk would be a treat.

ROBERT CRABB
A cherubim whose color doesn't exactly fit his angelic
     features and character.

PHOENIX RUFFALO
What would our Cross-Country team do without him?

[Page 24]

JOSEPH ALUSIC
Joe likes to cut up in every class. He succeeds.

LOUIS JORGENSON
You girls who to the cave man bow have hope, for here is
     one, right now.

HELGA RASMUSSEN
Please join us; we all desire your company.

EVELYN OLSON
She is chummy, quick and athletic.

JOHN MATERN
We wish that we knew you better.

LeROY BELL
Ah, but to have the ability to tell your future!

ETHEL CATTERAL
A grateful mixture --formed of tart and sweet.

MARTHA LEWIS
Her heart like the moon is ever changing --and like the
moon, there is always a man in it.

GERALD JORGENSON
Maybe he doesn't look it, but Gen'l Grant is his middle
     name!

IRVIN SCHNEIDER
That he smokes, sings, and shuffles is enough to know about
     him.

[Page 25]

CLARENCE HART
Long I hesitated between them, the blonde or the brunette,
but the light didn't go out.

ADOLPH WIEBEL
The good die young. Gee, but Adolph's healthy.

DAGMAR ANDERSEN
Dagmar models, dances, and plays basketball. With talking
included she has lots to do.

LORRAINE LoPOUR
She has all the requisites of a heart bomber, but that job
is farthest from her thoughts (she says).

ALVA ACKLAM
Smart people usually are prigs; but don't worry, there are
     exceptions to every rule.

HARRIET VANCE
The stern motto of this diminutive blonde miss is "Ad-Vance-
     ment."

CARRIE OTTESON
This stately girl lacks neither friends or good works.

HELEN NAVITSKY
     What a tasty "bittersweet."

FRANK KRISTOFF
He has a loud deep voice, almost loudest of all the boys.

WILLIAM RESCHKE
He does his best to win, but please smile and give the girls
     a treat.

[Page 26]

LINCOLN HIGGIE
I don't care whether they are from Racine or Kenosha; they
are all the same to me.

ROY GROENEKE
We suppose he has human emotions, but who would ever guess
     it?

RUTH EGGERT
She works at a candy counter; that is why she is so sweet.

LaVORA HINKLE
     "Say it with Roses".

One of our bright students --her father is a light-house
     keeper.

VERNA SCHADE
You don't ever see Verna at a movie!

ELIZABETH HAYMAN
     "Don't stop me, I'm going someplace! No, I guess I won't,

FRED BEHRMAN
We looked for this little star, but a floating cloud hid it
     from view.

RACHEL HANSCHE
Ever pure and serene, quiet and demure.

LUCILLE HELM
She considers her three years of High well spent; strange,
     to say the least!

ELIZABETH WELDON
The pericardium of the coquette's heart was scarred by
millions of arrows, but only one had pierced it.

PEARLE RAY
Bright as the sun, she shines on all alike.

JESSIE NELSON
She is a veritable "Tiny Tim".

FLORENCE LEUSCHKE
First it's one and then another, but Florence treats them
     all like a brother.

CHARLES REHWALD
If no one were to love, there would still be I!

CLIFFORD NELSON
Some people can't talk while chewing gum, but Clifford not
only can talk, but set up in type, the talk of other people.

[Page 28]

JEROME PEDERSON
He reminds a body of "Dapper Dan."

     a Ruby.

ALICE MATTERER
A contagious and a willing way.

AURELIA VALLEY
She used to be so very studious, but not so now. We wonder

LLOYD FENNELL
Twinkling eyes, a grin, and a jolly laugh, --that's Lloyd.

Warren's reliable and sure, and has as his prize an "E" from
     each class.

STELLA THOMPSON
Oh yes, basketball and hockey improve my dancing!

FLORENCE HAMMERSTRAND

BENJAMIN WAISMAN
Ah! When Ben smiles --such teeth and eyes!

RICHARD JUHRE
Don't be afraid of him; he's not glum. Just poke him up and
     you'll find out.

[Page 30]

HAROLD BOHMSACH
Harold may have something up his sleeve, but all I found was
     his arm.

EARL SMERCHEK
What's on his mind is doubtful; he'd make a good football
     player.

ETHEL JAMES
She is as breezy as the March wind, and just as unexpected.

ROSE MARY JOHNSON
Rose likes High; but if He were here, she would leave it.

CLARINDA KARST
We're proud of Clarinda, because she is patient and busy as
     a bee.

Henrietta is very assuming and goes about her work with a
     silent air of determination.

MILDRED HAUMERSEN
     Still waters run deep.

BEATRICE MAY
Do you need any help? You seem so helpless with only dimples
     as your resources.

KENNETH OLSON
There's no darkness at our house. It's always "sonny".

ROBERT DOOD
A man who would sail the seven seas!

[Page 31]

GEORGE PLATZ
We're wondering what would happen if these quiet guys got
quick; perhaps we would get an awful kick.

HYMAN SOREF
We wonder what poor Hyman would do without the company of
     Ben.

VERONICA DUNAY
Sweet of voice, angelic of looks.

FLORENCE CASHMAN

     --I'll tell you.

KATHERINE JENSEN
We never could understand her, but a gentleman with glasses
     can!

EVERETT TESHNOW
Smart in history, bright in English, but when it comes to
ladies, a lady is his light.

WALLACE PINKOSKY
A short little fellow of serious intent, but what's on his
mind is for a Houdini to guess.

[Page 32]

THOR POULSON
We've welcomed back our hero, the football captain of '25.

JACK BARRY
He is such a little boy for a Hi-Y.

YOLANDE SAVELLI
Unaiming charms with edge resistless falls and she who means

Carolyn always gives her vocal apparatus a daily dozen.

EDNA REEP
If there's a bright side to things, Edna always finds it.

     lives.

VIOLET KANNENBERG
She's slow but sure --and she always gets to her destination
     --obstacles or not.

CAROLYN SUTTER
There's a bit of bad in every girl; so there must be some in
you. Although we haven't found it yet, we still believe it's
     true.

DICK HARVEY
Oh, what joy Dick finds in his football.

JAMES CULLEN
How easily he is governed by bewitching eyes!

[Page 33]

HARVEY GIESE
What draws Harvey to church every Wednesday night?

BRAYMER SHERMAN
He is a happy lad, not very bad or good; he minds everybody
and always is the first with the newest fad.

MARGARET BURROUGHS
When Jack's about she loves to flirt.

ETHEL KAPAUN
A good all around sport, and Patricia, we won't forget your

MAE KERR
     A bonnie Scotch lassie!

VERDA SNYDER
Off with the old friends, on with the new!

JEANETTE SCHROEDER

often gives the Hood of his car an airing.

CECIL HUMBLE
     "Keep that school girl complexion."

RICHARD KROUPA
We know Dick has not a failing for lessons, but he has for
     pretty girls.

He's quiet of voice; he's quiet of manner; he's quick to
     smile; he's slow to anger.

LAURENCE QUIRK
I dreamed that life was beauty and found that it was duty.

CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN
Christian is trying to reach the stars.

GEORGE CAMPBELL
He's fond of athletics and in athletics did shine, but to it
     his ability cannot be confined.

IDA DORMAN

     than she is.

JESSIE WILSON
We all know she's witty and as for being bad, oh, no, never.

OTTO HANSEN
Otto is never automatic when it comes to building things.

GILBERT HANSEN
If enthusiasm makes a man a success in the world, you will
     be a magnate.

     merry time.

HERBERT LAURSEN
You will all look up to me some day because I'm going in for
     aviation.

LYLE HANSEN
Soprano, tenor, alto, or bass, if it's "Show Me the Way to

[Page 36]

ROY NIELSEN
Desire amusement? Just get him started.

CLARENCE BARTA
Faint hearts fair ladies never win.

FREDA ROBINSON
If their hair is red or yellow, she falls flat. She's a
     right jolly good fellow.

CATHERINE SCHILKE
A person is never without worry; so just give it up and be
gay like the rest of us.

LORA MILLER
Cases may come and go and Lora's never without them; they
last so short a time that it's useless to count them.

ARLENE SORENSON
Our art editor lives for her Art.

JOHN GREB
He walks to school every day, and always must hurry for fear
     of being late.

LeROY TUTTLE
To a barber shop for a shave he went, but all that was
     charged was five cents.

CHARLES DILDAY
Lucky Strikes are his hobby. Girls? Oh just a fad!

WILLIAM STORMS
When Bill grows up he will be a horse-raiser, because he is
so good at handling "ponies" now.

[Page 38]

EDITH MILLER
She's a quiet girl, but wait'll you get acquainted.
