ADAMS, Ammon H

From "The Union Grove Enterprise" Union Grove, Racine Co.,
Wi.
July 29, 1915 --- Ammon H Adams, one of the oldest and best
known residents of the city of Racine and an uncle of Frank
B Adams, of this village, died at his home 1106 Irving Pl.,
Saturday afternoon, July 24, aged 79 years, 5 months and 4
days.
Mr Adams was a sufferer from cardiac asthma, but had been
able to be up and around most of the time until about two
weeks ago when he was taken worse and continued to decline
until his death.  The deceased was born in Madison Co, NY,
February 20, 1836.  He came west with his father, Dr. A.P.
Adams and settled in the village (meaning Union Grove, WI),
moving to Racine in 1868, where he had since resided.  He
united with the First Congregational Church during that year
and was an active member of church and Sunday school for 47
years.  Soon after the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted
in the Twenty-second Regiment Volunteers and served til the
close, passing through many hard-fought battles and long
marches.
Mr Adams was a man highly esteemed by all who knew him.  He
was a man of genial nature and sterling worth.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Charles L of Stevens-
ville, Montana and Roy F, Racine.
Funeral services were held from the late Adam's home in
Racine Monday afternoon.  Interment being made in the Union
Grove Cemetery.
