Henken
Mrs. Agnes Henken, wife of Henry Henken, died
on Saturday evening at the family residence. No.
107 North Wisconsin street, aged 67 years. Deceased
was born in Prussia on the Rhine and came to America
in 1849, settling at Milwaukee. In 1849 she came to
Racine and resided here up to the time of her death.
In 1849 she was married to Henry Henken at St. Marys
church, Milwaukee. Eleven children were born to
them, five of whom are living. They are Mrs. Kate
Buckingdale of Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Annie Pahll
and Mrs. Agnes Rastall, of this city; Henry Henken,
of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jacob Henken of this city.
Deceased was one of the oldest residents. She was
a member of the St. Joseph Catholic church and a
true christian woman. She was kind hearted and
ever ready to lend a helping hand to the suffering.
When a neighbor ws stricken with illness she was
always found at the bedside rendering aid and in
case of death had a kind and consoling word and
hundreds of families on the north side of the river
will testify to her many acts of kindness and charity.
In her death the husband loses a kind wife and
the children a loving and indulgent mother. They
will have the sympathy of the entire community.
The funeral will take place Wednesday morning at
9 o'clock from St. Joseph church.
