Efforts to Make More Sightly Last Resting
         Place of First Governor
Kinston, Aug. 21-- A movement is on foot here to
improve the grave of Richard Caswell, first governor
of North Carolina, which is located near this city.
The grave is very near the central highway, and the
fact that it is being visited by increasing numbers
of tourists is responsible for the public interest
being shown in the matter. An iron railing which
was recently taken from around the famous old Caswell
monument in this city will probably be placed around
the sacred spot, and other means taken to protect the
ast resting place of the great soldier and statesman
of revolutionary times, and otherwise beautify it.
The grave isone of the most interesting spots in this
section, and the necessity for its preservation is
regarded as important by the Caswell Monument
Association, of Kinston, and other societies.
