Born on July 5, 1884 to Susan Caroline Noble Williams and James Williams. Ben 
was a farmer in the Elm Grove Section of Lenoir County. He married Mary 
Elizabeth Oglesby on December 25, 1910 and they had six children: Fannie 
Katherine, Edward James, Benjamin Elbert, Margaret Hazel, Milton Roscoe, and 
Annie Marie Williams. He died on November 26, 1952 and is buried in the 
Colonel John Williams Cemetery.

Rites on Friday
Benjamin Franklin Williams, 68, died at a local hospital about 11:43 pm 
Wednewday after a short illness. A farmer of the Elm Grove section, he was the 
son of the late James & Susan Noble Williams of Lenoir County. The funeral 
will be 2 pm Friday from Garner's Funeral Home and burial will be in the 
Williams family cemetery at Woodington. Rev. Clifford Rice, local Free Will 
Baptist minister, will officiate. Surviving are two sons, M.R. and Edward J. 
Williams of the home; two daughters, Mrs. A.M. Coston of Silvlerdate and Mrs. 
Marvin Ball of New York City; two brothers, John E. Williams of Fayetteville 
and P.C. Williams of the home and 16 grandchidlrn.
