She married Jesse Oliver Sutton and they had 11 children: Claudius Woodley, Alice Eugenia, Oliver Clyde, Dal Monroe, Willie Green, Minnie S., John T., Roy B, Caroline Branch, Julia Ann, and Jesse Ballard. She contracted and died from typhoid fever in 1917. Obit reads: 8-19-1917 Kinston Free Press Mrs. Julia Sutton Dead Mrs. Julia A. Sutton, aged 64, widow of Jesse Sutton and sister of the Police Chief of Kinston, John W. Taylor, died Sunday about 12 o'clock at her home in Neuse Township from an attack of typhoid fever. Mrs. Sutton was one of the most esteemed women of her community., always answering the call of her neighbors and ministering to the wants of the sick with a kindly hand. She was a member of the Disciples of Christ and the funeral was conducted by S. W. Sumrell, a minister of that faith Monday afternoon. Mrs. Sutton is survived by her aged father who is past ninety, three sons and four daughters as follows: Messrs Will, Dal and Roy; and Mrs. Eby Goodman, Mrs. W. G. Fordham, and Misses Julie and Alice Sutton and one brother, Captain Taylor of the Kinston Police Force. Tombstone reads: Julia A. Wife of Jesse O.
