From Gazetteer of Grafton County, NH 1709-1886 -Warren
Compiled & published by Hamilton Child 1886

Ward C. Batchelder came to Warren, from Orford, about 1830, and located on
the farm now owned by his son Reuben, on road 12. He was killed by a limb
of a tree, while chopping in the woods, about 1840. He reared a family of
eight children, six of whom are living. Of these, Mrs. Elsie French, and
Reuben who occupies the homestead, live in town.
