John Shepard, an early settler of the town of Holderness, married Eleanor,
daughter of Richard Shepard, who was one of the first proprietors of
Holderness. George W., one of the eleven children of John, married Sarah
Fowle, and had born to him three children, only one of whom is living.
Robert Fowle was the first Episcopal minister in this town. Henry H., son of
George W., married Mary, daughter of Jeremiah M. and Mary Calley, has one
child, Martha M., and resides in Ashland, near Little Squam Lake.
