Washburn/Tudor Deed, 1840 - Patrick Co. VA


WASHBURN TO TUDOR DEED (1840) 
Recorded in Deed Book 10, Page 468, Patrick County, Virginia

This Indenture made and entered into the 26th day of November one thousand 
eight hundred forty between John W. Washburn and Rozannah his wife Thompson 
C. Washburn and Louisiana W. his wife all of the County of Patrick and state 
of Virginia of the one part and William Tudor of said county and state of the 
other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred 
and fifty dollars to the said John W. Washburn and Rozannah his wife Thompson 
C. Washburn and Louisiana W. his wife in hand paid by the said William at or 
before the insealing and delivery hereof the receipt is hereby acknowledged 
and doth by these presents agree to confirm grant bargain and sell unto the 
said William Tudor his heirs or assigns one certain tract or parcel of land 
lying and being in the county aforesaid and bounded as follows to wit: 
Beginning at sower wood on north side road leading from oncar [sic] Penns 
Store towards the mountain by the way of Joshua Adams thence crossing the 
same S25 W208 poles to chestnut tree thence S86 W94 to oak black grind & 
sower pointers on old path thence new dividing line as follows N12 E40 poles 
N25 E10 N83 E54 poles N21 E18 N10 E86 poles N23 E45 poles to oak and sower 
pointers on said road leading from the begining [sic] thence with the same as 
it meanders S70 E30 poles S83 E22 poles S65 E24 poles S50 E24 poles to the 
begining [sic] containing 150 acres more or less. To have and to hold unto 
the said William Tudor his heirs or assigns forever and the said John W. 
Washburn and Rozannah his wife Thompson C. Washburn and Louisiana his wife 
doth bind themselves their heirs enors or assigns to make and warrant a good 
and lawful right and title unto the said Wm. Tudor his heirs or assigns free 
from the claim or claims of all and any other person or persons whatsoever 
with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging. In witness whereof the 
parties have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and 
date first written.

We Clark Penn and William Critz Justices of the Peace in the County aforesaid 
hereby certify that Louisiana W. wife of Thompson C. Washburn and Rozannah J. 
wife of John W. Washburn parties to the within deed bearing date on the 26th 
day of November 1840 appeared before us in our county aforesaid and being 
examined by us privily and apart from their husbands and having the deed 
fully explained to them they the said Louisiana W. and Rozannah J. Washburn 
acknowledged the same to be their acts and deeds and declared that they 
willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and that they wished not to 
retract it. Given under our hands and seals this 26th day of November 1840.

This deed from John W. Washburn and wife Thompson C. Washburn and wife to 
William Tudor with the certificate of relinquishment thereon endorsed was 
presented in the clerks office aforesaid and admitted to record.
