DEED OF TRUST - MAY 14, 1833

This Indenture made this 14th day of May 1833 between Archilous Stovall of 
the County of Patrick and State of Virginia of the first part, John D. 
Cheatham ot the said County and State of trustee of the second part, and 
George W. Stovall also of the said County and State of the third part; 
Witnesseth that the said Archilous Stovall --- will for and in consideration 
of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said John D. Cheatham the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as to secure the payment of the sum of 
Fifty dollars good and lawful money of Virginia unto the said George W. 
Stovall which the sum the said Archilous Stovall owes the said George Stovall 
hath granted, revised, sold -----and confirmed unto the said John D. Cheatham 
one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Patrick 
on the waters of Buffalo Creek and containing three hundred acres more or 
less, it being the same land upon which the said Archilous Stovall now 
resides together with its appurtenances  to have and to hold unto him the 
said John D. Cheatham his heirs and assigns forever the right and title 
whereof the said Archilous Stovall doth against himself his heirs and both 
warrant and defend by these presents unto the said John D. Cheatham his heirs 
and assigns forever, in special trust ------that if the said Archilous 
Stovall shall not pay unto the said George W. Stovall the debt which he owes 
him viz. The sum of Fifty dollars aforesaid on or before the 25th day of 
December 1833, the said John D. Cheatham whenever thereunto required shall 
previously giving ten days notice at Patrick Courthouse, and some public 
place near the premises, proceed to sell to the highest bidder for ready 
money, the said tract of land with its appurtenances, and out of the proceeds 
thereof to pay the said George W. Stovall the said debt with interest and the 
cost of executing this trust, and the balance if any to pay unto the said 
Archilous Stovall.
