Know all men by these presents that we, Harbert Shelton -- and Peter Penn are held and firmly 
bound unto James Pleasants Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia and his successors, in the 
just and full sum of one Hundred and fifty dollars, to which payment well and truly to be made -
we bind ourselves our heirs, executors, and administrators, firmly by these presents.  Sealed 
with our seals and dated this 6th [4th?] day of January 1825.

     The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas the above bound Harbert Shelton
Hath this day obtained a Licence for his intermarriage with Sally Sharp --

     Now if there be no Lawful cause to obstruct the marriage then this obligation to be void, 
else remain in full force and virtue.
