Know all men by these presents that we William A. Sandefur and William Thompson are held and 
firmly bound unto William B. Giles esqr. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia and his 
successors in the sum of One hundred and fifty dollars to which payment well and truly to be 
made we bind ourselves our heirs etc. Jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with
our seals and dated this 29th day of September 1827

The conditions of the above obligation is such that whereas a marriage is intended to be 
solemnized between the above bound William A Sandefur and Nancy M Sharp of Patrick County Now 
if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void 
else to remain in full force and virtue
