Gilbert/Sharp Bond, 1823

     Know all men by these presents that we Saml Gilbert and Samuel Sharp 
are held & firmly bound unto his excellency James Pleasants Esquire Governor
of the Commonwealth of Virginia and to his successors in office, for the use
of the said Commonwealth, in the just and full sum of $150 to which payment 
well and truly to be made , we bind ourselves and each of us our heirs, 
executors and administrators firmly by these payments.  Sealed with our 
seals and dated this 6th day of March 1823

     The conditions of the above obligation is such that whereas the above 
bound Samuel Gilbert hath this day obtained from this office a license for 
his intermarriage with Lucy Sharp of the said County, now if there be no 
lawful excuse to obstruct the marriage for which the licence of  __? was 
devised and granted, then this obligation to be void, else to remain in 
force and virtue.
