Know all men by these presents, that we Fedrick Gilbert and Samuel Gilbert of the County of 
Patrick are held and firmly bound unto his excellency James P. Preston Governor of the 
commonwealth of Virginia, and to his successors in office, for the use of the commonwealth, in 
the just and full sum of 150 dollars, to which payment well and truly to be made, we bind 
ourselves, and each of us, our heirs, executors & administrators, firmly by these presents.  
Sealed with our seals and dated this 9th day of February 1819.

The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas, the above bound Fedrick Gilbert 
hath this day obtained from the Clk. of Patrick Court a licence for his intermarriage with Jane 
Sharp of the said county.  Now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the marriage, for which 
the licence aforesaid was desired and granted then this obligation to be void, else remain in 
force and virtue.
