Eaton/Sayers Marriage Bond, 1832 - Patrick Co. VA

Marriage Bond of Newell Eaton and Matilda Sayers,    Patrick County, 
Virginia, September 15, 1832

       
Know all men by these presents that we NEWELL EATON and ALEXANDER AYERS are 
held and formally bound unto His Excellency John Floyd, Governor of the 
Commonwealth of Virginia and his successors in office in the just and full 
sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to which payment well and hereby to be 
made we bind ourselves our heirs to firmly by these presents sealed with our 
seals and dated this 15th day of September 1832 and in the 56th year of the 
Commonwealth.

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said NEWELL 
EATON hath this day obtained from the Clerk of the County of Patrick license 
for his intermarrying with MATILDER SAYERS of the said County of Patrick, now 
if there should or ought not to take place, then this obligation to be void.

Note: Though the bride's name is spelled "Matilder" in the document, she is 
Matilda Sayers.

Note: The groom is the son of John and Nancy Eaton.
He was the Bondsman on the Marriage Bond for Elijah Harrold and Catherine 
Scott in Surry County, North Carolina, on March 15, 1838.
