Part of Lot #210 in the city of Pittsburgh
Written: August 30, 1844
Recorded: August 30, 1844

This indenture made the thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and forty four.  Between Robert Officer, Executor of
the last Will and Testament of William Hunter deceased of the Borough of
Washington, County of Washington, and State of Pennsylvania, party of the
first part and Samuel Burnside of the City of Pittsburgh, County of
Allegheny, and State aforesaid, party of the second part.  Witnesseth, that
the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum 
of Four thousand dollars, lawful money of the United States of America
untohim well and truly paid by the said party of the second part at or before
the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold alliened, enfeoffed,released,
conveyed, and confirmed and by these presents, doth grant, bargain, sell,
allien, enfeoff,release, convey, and confirm unto the said party of the
second part his heirs and assigns all that certain lot or piece of ground
situate in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, being part
of the lot marked and numbered Two hundred and ten No. 210 in the general
plan of said City and bounded and described as follows, viz:  beginning at
the corner of Second and Smithfield Streets and running thence Southwardly
along said Smithfield Street feet, thence Eastwardly by a line parallel with
said Second Street sixty feet to lot No. 209, thence Northwardly along said
lot No. 209 forty feet to Second Street and thence Westwardly along Second
Street sixty feet to the corner the place of beginning.  The same being part
of the estate of which the said William Hunter did seized and possessed,
under and by virtue of two certain deeds of conveyance, the one from "The
President, Directors, and Company of the Bank of Pennsylvania" dated twenty
fourth December A.D. 1834 recoreded in Alleghney County at foresaid in Book Y
2 Vol. 48 page 39 and the other from William Arthurs and wife dated
fithteenth July A.D. 1835 reocorded in same County in Deed Book Vol. 64 page
480.  And the said William Hunter in and by his last Will and Testament dated
thirteeth of April A.D. 1839 duly proven and registered in Washington County
aforesaid Will Book - page - directed as follows viz:  "I will and bequeath
that said excutor proceed to sell at any time when he may think most
beneficial for my heirs all or any part of my real estate on such terms as he
may choose and make deeds to the purchaser or purchasers for the same," and
did therein "nominate and appoint Robert Officer of Washington Penna. my
Executor of this my last Will and Testament".  

     TOGETHER with all and singular the buildings, improvements, ways,
waters, rights, privileges, hereditaments, and  appurtenances whatsoever
thereonto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and
remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, and all the estate, right,
title interest, property, claim and demand whatsoever of the said party of
the first part in law, equity or otherwise howsoever, of in and to the same
and every part thereof.

   TO HAVE TO HOLD the said described lot or piece of ground and the
hereditaments and premises hereby granted, or mentioned or intended so to be
with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and
assigns, to and for the only proper use and behoof of the said pary of the
second part his heirs and assigns forever.  And the said part of the first
part doth by these presents, covenant, grant and agree to and with the said
party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, that the said party of the
first part, hath not done or committed or wittingly or willingly suffered to
be done or committed any act, matter or thing whatsoever, whereby the
hereditaments and premises herein above described and granted or mentioned
and intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said party of the seond
part are or shall be impeached, charged or incumbered intitle charge or
estate or otherwise howsoever.

  In Witness Whereof the said pary of the first part hath hereunto set my
hand and seal the day and year first within written.

Received, on the day of the date of the above Indenture of the above named
Samuel Burnside the sum of Four thousand dollars, lawful money being the
consideration therein mentioned in full.

Before me and Alderman of the City of Pittsburgh personally appeared the
above named Robert Officer executor and acknowledged the above Indenture to
be his act and deed and desired the same might be recorded as such.

Additional Comments:
This property is now located on the corner of Smithfield Street and Blvd. of
the Allies.  I believe the property to be my ggg grandfather's tavern.
