We, the undersigned commissioners chosen and selected by the heirs of 
Richard Kennedy dec'd to divide and make partition, between James E. 
Kennedy, Jane E. Carnage (Kornegay) wife of Harget Carnage (Kornegay), 
Richard M. Kennedy and Ashley T. Kennedy, tenants in common of the 
lands descended to them as children and heirs at law of the said 
Richard Kennedy, dec'd.

Whereupon we have made and do hereby make the following appropriations 
among the respective claimants in severalty, that is to say, the lot 
No. 1 is assigned and appropriated to James E. Kennedy in severalty, 
bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake in Nancy Kennedy's line 
and runs across the plantation, south 2E  211 1/2 poles to a pine in 
Walter Kennedy's line, thence running with his lines, N. to W. 55 poles 
thence S.54  W. 22 to a small branch, thence N 52 W 18 poles thence, 
N 34 W 8 1/2 poles thence, N 29 W 8 poles  thence, N 45 W 10 poles  
N 29 W 20 poles thence, S 45 1/2 W 10 poles, thence N 19 W 61 poles, 
thence N 38 E 13 poles thence, N 36 1/2 E 23 poles thence, N 60 1/2 
E. 38 poles N. 47 1/2 E. 78 poles thence, N. 66 1/2 E 20 poles to the 
beginning containing 10 acres, valued at eight hundred dollars.

The lot 2 is appropriated to Jane E. Carnage (Kornegay) wife of Hargett 
Carnage (Kornegay) in severalty, bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at 
a stake in Simon E. Hodge's line and runs with his line N 67 W 54 1/2 
poles, to a pine, thence South 44 1/2 W 34 poles, to the beginning 
corner of lot No 1, thence running with the same South 2 E 211 1/2 
poles, to a pine in Walter Kennedy's line, the second corner of Lot 
No 1, thence running with his line South 70 E 53 poles, thence N 33 
E 38 poles to a pine, thence running across the Plantation N 1 1/2 
W 2 1/2 poles to the beginning, containing 110 acres, valued at seven 
hundred dollars.

No. 3 is appropriated to Richard M. Kennedy in severalty bounded as 
follows. viz: Beginning at a pine in Walter Kennedy's line and runs 
with his lines N 57 E 52 poles, to a red oak thence N 38 1/2 E. 35 poles, 
thence N 61 3/4 E 815 1/2 poles, to a maple in a small branch, thence 
North 11 E 57 3/4 poles, to a stake in Simon E. Hodge's line, thence 
running with his lines S 67 W 32 1/2 poles, to a stump thence N 67 
W 68 poles, thence N 65 W 81 1/2 poles, to a stake, the beginning corner 
of lot No. 2, thence running across the plantation S 1 1/2 E 202 poles, 
to the beginning, containing 110 acres valued at seven hundred dollars.

No 4 is appropriated to Ashley T. Kennedy in severalty, bounded as follows. 
viz; Beginning at a maple in a small branch and running with a line of 
lot No 3 N 11 E 57 3/4 poles, to a stake in Simon E. Hodges line, thence 
running with his line N 67 E 35 3/4 poles, to a dogwood now down, thence 
N. 75 E 24 poles, to a pine thence South 78 E 16 poles, to the Hull Road 
thence running with the said road southwardly 151 poles, to James M. 
Parrott's line, thence running with his line, S 9 1/2 W 9 poles, thence 
N 49 1/2 W 139 poles, thence south 26 1/2 W 25 thence, south 30 1/4 E 71 
to Pool's Branch, thence down the run of said branch to Small Branch, 
thence up said Small Branch to the beginning, containing 110 acres valued 
at two hundred dollars.

We further charge the more valuable dividends with such sums of money 
respectively to be paid to those of inferior value respectively as will 
make an equitable division, that is to say.

The Lot No 1 appropriated to James E. Kennedy is to pay to the lot No 4 
appropriated to Ashley T. Kennedy the sum of two hundred dollars.

The Lot No 2 appropriated to Jane E. Carnage (Kornegay) is to pay to Lot 
No 4 appropriated to Ashley T.Kennedy the sum of one hundred dollars.

The Lot No 3 appropriated to Richard M.Kennedy is to pay to lot No 4 
appropriated to Ashley T. Kennedy the sum of one hundrred dollars

All which is respectively submitted under our hands and seals this 
February 26th day 1873.
