Kinston, Sept. 7 - Mr. W.H. Whitfield died this morning at 9:30 o'clock in the 
57th year of his age at his home in this city. Death was caused by scirrhosis 
of the liver, with which he had suffered for several years. He was a member of 
the independent order of Heptasophs and a communicant of the Baptist church.
