FUNERAL SERVICES FOR RICHARD K. NOBLE TO BE FROM HOME SUNDAY

Funeral services for Richard K. Noble, 95, one of Lenoir County's most prominent and
progressive farmers, who died at 8:45 am Friday at his home near Noble's Mill, will be
held from the late residence at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The last rites will be conducted by Rev.
Rufus B. Hurt. Disciples minister, and interment will be in the Noble cemetery nearby.

One of the county's best known citizens, Mr. Noble, during his long life had been a leader
in the introduction of progressive farming practices. In addition to extensive public
service. He was one of the group which began the movement for the consolidation of
Lenoir County's schools before 1927.

Mr. Noble also served his county as commissioner and as a member of the Board of
Education for many years. He conducted a Sunday school in his community and served
as a member of the local school committee. He was born November 28, 1853, the son of
Richard and Cathrine Williams Noble. His wife, the late Zobedia Davis Noble, died in
1947.

Survivors include one son, Rex Nobles, four daughters, Miss Verdie and Verna Noble of
the home, Mrs. J.W. Scarborough of Grifton and Mrs James Broadhurst of Deep Run;
and the following grandchildren: Elaine Noble of Wilmington, Mrs. Emmett Sharron of
Raleigh, Mrs. Julian Daniel of Stern, Misses Shirley and Janice Noble and Paul G. Noble
of Deep Run, and Misses Glenda and Martha Noble of Noble's Mill.
