Burwell W. CANADY died at his home in Kinston on Saturday morning, September 30,
1905. He was a large planter, the proprietor of large mercantile interests, the
owner of important properties, employed in the tobacco industries of this
section, and interested in other industries of this city and community; he had
been mayor of Kinston, several times chairman of the board of commissioners of
Lenoir county, had held other positions of trust and confidence, and was at the
time of his death vice president of this bank. Having been in active touch with
the business life of this section for more than a quarter of a century, he has
left his impress upon its industries and its institutions and has largely
contributed to the growth of this city and to the improvement and upbuilding of
this and the adjoining counties, and his passing away has brought regret and
sorrow throughout the large territory in which his name and work are so familiar
and well-known. Now, be it

Resolved. By the board of directors of the Citizens' Bank:

First: That the death of B.W. CANADY, vice president of the bank, has brought to
each of his associates on the board a sense of personal sorrow and loss which
will also be shared by every stockholder of this institution.

Second: That want of his counsel and co-operation will be felt, but that his
aid and help during the infancy of the bank until failing health disabled him,
will always be a grateful remembrance.

Third: That these resolutions be spread upon the records of the bank and that a
copy be transmitted by the cashier to his family with the assurance of the
sincere sympathy of the individual members of this board, and that a copy be
also furnished the Kinston Free Press with the request that the same be given
publication.
