MRS. EUNICE NEWELL BLAND:  Kinston - Mrs. Eunice Newell Bland, 8s, wife of the 
late Furney Becton Bland, died Thursday, March 9, at the home of her daughter, 
Rena Carlyle, at 3308 Carey Road, after a brief illness.  Mrs. Bland, 
previously of Goldsboro, resided in Kinston for the past 30 years.  She had 
many talents and hobbies.  She had a large collection of Faberge Eggs, her own 
creations, and also taught egging at the community college.  Funeral services 
will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. 
Lacy Oliver and Rev. Lindy Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in 
Westview Cemetery.

Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Rena G. Carlyle of Kinston, NC, Mrs. Vera 
Lee Elliot of Easton, MD, and Mrs. Doris Ellen Dunn of Aurora, NC; her son 
David Henry Gainey of Clute, TX; a sister, Mrs. Rowena Hooks of Raleigh, NC; 
14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.  The family will be at Edwards 
Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (today), and other times at the home of 
Mrs. Rena Carlyle, 3308 Carey Road.
