Goldsboro News Argus, March 22,1957
 Kinston- Funeral services for Jesse Vance Barfield, 74, farmer of near 
Kinston, were to be held today at 3 p. m. from Garner's Funeral Chapel in 
Kinston and burial was to be in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange. He died 
Wednesday in a Kinston hospital.
 He was the father of James B. and Edgar Barfield of LaGrange and Ava Shiver of 
Seven Springs.
