BENSON, MARTIN R., is a native of Norway, and was born September 7, 
1860.  He emigrated to the United States with his parent in 1865, and 
spent his boyhood days in Stoughton, Wisconsin, an Winneshiek county, 
Iowa.  In 1872 he came to this county with his parents, who settled in 
Edison.  He worked on a farm as a brick mason until 1883, when he 
removed to Sioux Falls, where he has since resided.  In 1888, he went 
into the grocery business in Sioux Falls to which he has recently added 
a stock of boots and shoes, and is doing a good business.  Mr. Benson 
attends strictly to business, has no political aspirations, and is a 
respected citizen.
