BECHER, JACOB, is a native of Germany, and was born March 3, 1840.  He 
attended school from his sixth to his fourteenth year, and then learned 
the tailor's trade.  He emigrated to the United States in 1863, 
arriving in New York on the 27th day of January of that year.  He 
resided in New York three years, and then went to Freeport, Illinois, 
and worked at his trade until 1880, when he removed to Sioux Falls, 
arriving there on the 10th day of August, since which time he has been 
engaged in the merchant tailoring business at that place.  He is an 
honest man and a respected citizen.
