Lenoir County

Whereas, W. HUNTER of Lenoir county, North Carolina has agreed to make advances
of supplies to W. C. DUPREE for purposes of Agriculture during the year 1881, to
the value and amount of three $300 hundred Dollars and whereas W. C. DUPREE
desires to secure to WM. HUNTER the payment of said Sum in accordance with the
terms of the Act of General Assembly of North Carolina, entitled An Act to
Secure advances for Agricultural purposes ratified the 1st day of March 1867
therefore in consideration thereof W. C. DUPREE as principal and as
securities, do hereby agree with said W. HUNTER that he shall have an interest
in and be upon the crops cotton and other product to be raised during the year
1881 upon land of Mrs. DIBBLE & others or any place I may farm in said County of
Lenoir adjoining the lands of H. C. PARROT, Jno. TULL & others so referred and
to be cultivated by him during he year last aforesaid to the full value of the
advances to be made to W.C. DUPREE as aforesaid.
And for further Security, the said W. C. DUPREE hereby bargains and sells to the
said W. HUNTER the following articles of personal property now in possession of
said W. C. DUPREE to wit: 1 colt raised by him (about 2 years old) one bay horse
about 10 years old, one cart made by J.C. HAY, one buggy & harness bought of J.
W. GRAINGER, my cattle & increase, my hogs & increase & all my farming utensils
with the understanding that if the said W. C. DUPREE shall pay to the said W.
HUNTER the sum advanced on or before the 1st day of Oct. 1881 Said lien shall be
discharged and said property in said W. C. DUPREE otherwise sad W. HUNTER
shall have power to take into his possession said crop and said other property
and sell the same for cash after ten days notice in three or more public places
in said County. In Witness, whereof I have to set my hand this 5th day of Feby.
